Its Good News for BlackBerry Users Of India.
India has around one million users of BlackBerry, but they were all worried if they will be able to use BlackBerry at all after August 30th. The reason was simple. India had warned BlackBerry makers Research in Motion (RIM) that they will have to ban BlackBerry if RIM didn’t
provide India the source to encrypted e-mails and message. The dead line was August 30th.
However, RIM agreed to India’s conditions, thanks to huge market and huge potential. RIM will now set up a proxy server in the country to monitor encrypted corporate e-mails. It set up similar server in the US, China, Russia, the UK and Saudi Arabia.
With this development, all the BlackBerry users can in India safely continue to use their services. However, they will have to be more careful on the kind of information they send over their BlackBerries.
Indian Government, after this win, is going to raise similar issues with GMail and Skype. Problem, however, is that GMail and Skype are both free services, and it will be India’s loss if they will have to warn them of suspending their services in India.!!!
